On Monday (July 14, 2014) evening, Muhammed Ahmad Chaudhry, Public Affairs Secretary for Silicon Valley chapter of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, was honored by President Obama at the occasion of the White House Iftar dinner in Washington D.C.
Muhammed Chaudhry was an invited guest of the President and was honored for his work in the field of education as CEO of the Silicon Valley Education Foundation. President Obama said, in relevant part:
"Growing up in Pakistan, Muhammed Chaudhry and his family— part of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community—were mistreated because of their beliefs. They immigrated to America, and in California Muhammed saw world-changing technologies being launched in the same neighborhoods where too many students struggle just to stay in school. Today, he runs a foundation that works with schools, parents and local IT startups to better prepare students to embrace science and math. And they’ve started turning the tables. Thanks to Muhammed’s foundation, so many of these students are now taking classes that put them on track for college. So we want to thank Muhammed for being such a great example."Mr. Chaudhry was seated with President Obama at the head table and for more than one hour he spoke at length with him about the various social work initiatives of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community.
Also known for his work as a youth leader, Mr. Chaudhry is former national vice president of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association - USA, where he served from 1999 until 2012.
