A Hillingdon mosque is inviting the community to learn more about Muslim celebrations and traditions.

Mansur Ahmed, Imam of the Baitul Aman Mosque in Royal Lane, Hillingdon, is hosting a neighbourhood party to mark the end of the month of Ramadan and the celebration of Eid.

Mr Ahmed, who is a member of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association, says he wants to 'share the happiness' with his neighbours.

The programme includes a tour of the Mosque, exhibitions and a short talk by Mayor of Hillingdon, Catherine Dann.

More than 400 worshippers and special guests were at the grand opening of the Mosque in 2012. It is a place of worship for the minority Ahmadiyya Islamic Community.

There are about 600 Ahmadi muslims in the west London area. Ahmadis have a slightly different belief system to orthodox muslims, and as such suffer persecution in some parts of the world

The free event is on August 10 from 3:30pm to 5:30pm at the Mosque in Royal Lane (opposite number 128), UB8 3QU.

Refreshments will be provided and parking is available.
