Ahmadi Muslim Americans will join Muslims worldwide in celebrating Islam's greatest festival called Eid ul Adha. Literally meaning Festival of Sacrifice, Eid ul Adha is the largest Muslim holiday annually commemorating the holy and shared patriarch Abraham's willingness to sacrifice his own son solely for the sake of God along with his son's obedience to God's will all recorded in the Holy Quran. It also marks the completion of the sacred Hajj pilgrimage to the Holy Kaaba in Mecca.
This decisive day in history serves to remind Muslims of essential Islamic values featuring prayer, sacrifice, charity, service to humanity, the sacred pilgrimage, gratefulness to the Divine, and further emulating God's elect.
The Eid service will begin with the Holy Prophet Muhammad's prophetic practices of unified Islamic formal worship followed by a sermon and loving prayers of Eid Mubarak! A multicultural luncheon free to the public will also be served. The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community CT invites all Americans of every faith and even no faith to join this memorial gathering with your neighborly Muslims who believe in the Messiah, Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad.
The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is a dynamic, reformist and fast-growing international movement within Islam. Founded in 1889 by the holy Promised Messiah Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad of Qadian, the Community today spans over 200 countries with membership exceeding one hundred million. Ahmadiyya Muslim Community USA, established in 1920, is among the oldest American-Muslim organizations and the largest Islamic group united under one worldwide leader Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad the true Khalifa of Islam and Ahmadiyya.
