Perspective: Mullahs must stop preaching hatred and violence | Nusrat Jahan Aziz

If we want peace in the world, we must pressure our government to insist these countries — our allies — stop their hate-mongering. Only then can there be peace with the Muslim world and within it.

As Ahmadi Muslims (those who believe the Messiah has returned), we believe, “Love for all; hatred for none.” This does not, however, mean that we love the bad deeds that terrorists may commit. It is not just ISIS and al-Qaeda who are to blame for radicalization of our youth.

The mullahs (Muslim religious leaders) in Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are also responsible. They preach hatred and violence, which the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community strongly condemns.

If we want peace in the world, we must pressure our government to insist these countries — our allies — stop their hate-mongering. Only then can there be peace with the Muslim world and within it.

America has been a beacon of hope throughout the world for over two centuries. But these terrorist attacks — these heinous crimes — are changing the average U.S. citizen’s view of the outside world, particularly the Middle East. We must stamp out this hatred so that America can continue to hold up its welcome lamp for the oppressed.
