Perspective: Trump should experience true Islam | Sohail Z. Husain

Our worldwide spiritual Khalifa his Holiness Mirza Masroor Ahmad has asked us to do what the Prophet Muhammad did when he was faced with bitter animosity: Pray that your enemies’ hearts are softened by love and the pursuit of truth.

Republican front-runner Donald Trump said that he thought, “Islam hates us.”

I do agree that there is a lot of hatred in the world. And sadly, violent extremists in the guise of religion bear a large part of the blame. But by making broad allegations against an entire faith of 1.6 billion people, Trump joins the ranks of the top hate-mongers.

Trump should know that my Ahmadiyya Muslim Community believes in all of the tenets of Islam. And based on its teachings, our decades-old motto is “Love for All, Hatred for None (www.alislam.org).”

Our worldwide spiritual Khalifa his Holiness Mirza Masroor Ahmad has asked us to do what the Prophet Muhammad did when he was faced with bitter animosity: Pray that your enemies’ hearts are softened by love and the pursuit of truth. Trump, come visit us or at least read about us online (www.trueislam.com), and you’ll find out that the true Islam prays for you.
