Sri Lanka: Nuwara Eliya City Mayor presented Holy Qur’an Sinhala Translation.


The Holy Prophet of Islam, peace be on him, admonished to respect all religions and that’s why he also is trying to promote religious harmony in the country.

A four member delegation from the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at Sri Lanka (AMJSL) comprising Mr.A. Abdul Aziz, Press Secretary and National Director Faith Outreach – AMJSL, Moulavi A.B. Musthaq Ahmad – Chief Missionary (AMJSL), Moulavi K.M. Munir Ahmad (Missionary – Pasyala) and Murabbi Javid Raheem, visited Nuwara Eliya – a town 6,000 ft from sea level and top tourist center in Sri Lanka recently.

The delegation started their journey from Baithul Hamd – National Headquarters AMJSL at 3 a.m. early in the morning and reached Nuwara Eliya town at about 8.30 a.m.

The delegation visited Mayor’s Office and met Mr. D.G. Mahinda Kumara who warmly welcomed the Jama’at delegation. While accepting the Holy Qur’an Sinhala Translation, the Mayor said, he will read.

The delegation visited Public Library, Nuwara Eliya and gifted Holy Qur’an Sinhala Translation. Deputy Librarian Beddekumbra accepted with utmost gratitude.

The delegation visited Holy Trinity Central College, Nuwara Eliya and met Vice Principal Vijendran who warmly welcomed the delegation and accepted Holy Qur’an Sinhala Translation.

Vice Principal Vijendran was explained about the advent of Religious Reformer of this Age as foretold in the religious scriptures of four major religions, particularly from Bagavath Geetha – Hindu Scripture. He showed much interest on this and requested to send more information about this matter.

The delegation visited our Lady’s School, Nuwara Eliya and met Principal Sister Priyanka to gift Holy Qur’an Sinhala Translation. While explaining the current situation of the world that threats to peace, she accepted Islam is  a religion of Peace, even though certain elements creates bad image. Unfortunately, a Catholic teacher is appointed to teach Islam to the Muslim Students. A pity condition indeed!

The delegation visited St. Xavier’s College , Nuwara Eliya and met Deputy Principal Mr. Nathan to gift Holy Qur’an Sinhala Translation. The Deputy Principal called the Librarian Mrs. Shuwaida (non-ahmadi) and instructed to get the Qur’an Copy.

The delegation visited schools in Nuwara Eliya namely Mathuma Bandara Vidyalaya, Gamini Central College, Higher Girls’ College, and Good Shepherd Convent.

Following day, on their way back, the delegation visited other hilly towns namely Talawakelle, Kotagala, Hatton and Nawalapitiya and gifted Holy Qur’an Sinhala Translation to the libraries.

The delegation met Ven. Mahagnana Vimala Thero of Nigrodharma Temple of Hatton and gifted Holy Qur’an Sinhala Translation. The Buddhist clergy showed much interest to get the copy of Holy Book of Islam and exchanged views with the Ahmadiyya delegation. He said that the Holy Prophet of Islam, peace be on him, admonished to respect all religions and that’s why he also is trying to promote religious harmony in the country.

To all of them, along copy of the Sinhala Translation of the Holy Qur’an with some other literatures including Peace Messages in English as well as Sinhala were presented.
