Step outside anywhere in Edmonton Friday and you’ll be within earshot of a celebration.
Canada Day festivities will start early and run all day, concluding with several fireworks displays after sundown.

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community will host its own one-of-a-kind celebration at Hadi Mosque, 7005 98 Ave., starting at 2:15 p.m., in celebration of Canada's diversity.
Volunteers will serve food, even though they themselves are fasting for Ramadhan.

Driving is not advised, as River Valley Road, Queen Elizabeth Park Road and 109 Street between Saskatchewan Drive and the High Level Bridge will be closed to vehicles.
The weather should be ideal for walkers and cyclists, though, with Environment Canada calling for sun and a high of 26 C.
