Perspective: A 'barbaric attack on human life' | Safeer Ahmad
It pains me to know that this was the 133rd mass shooting (four or more killed or injured) of just this year alone, according to the Gun Violence Archive.

As an American Muslim, I am disgusted by the actions of the Omar Mateen, the shooter that killed 49 people at Pulse, a gay bar, in Orlando, Fla and who had pledged his allegiance to the so-called "Islamic" State.
On behalf of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association, my prayers go out towards the victim's families and others whose lives will never be the same because of this barbaric attack on human life.
As news coverage and investigations continue, more is becoming known about Omar. Yet, if there is one thing I am very certain about, it is that he was not a Muslim. This man killed 49 people and injured countless others, he was known to abuse his wife, and he was also known to go to that same Pulse bar and get drunk. All of these things are strictly, without a doubt, forbidden in Islam. There are no exceptions, as these rules are mentioned in the Qur'an, the Muslim scripture, itself.
It pains me to know that this was the 133rd mass shooting (four or more killed or injured) of just this year alone, according to the Gun Violence Archive. For perspective, in Canada there have been eight mass shootings in the last 20 years, according to The New York Times.
Americans are no longer safe in movie theaters, elementary schools, high schools, colleges, and places of worship. Something needs to be done and this madness needs to end. I pray that a time will come in which the madness does end.
