[Excerpt]
The possible use of prayer vigils was raised by Erfan Ahmed, secretary of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community mosque in Bedford.
"Right now it seems like racial tensions have heightened, and obviously affecting everybody," said Ahmed, who noted that several members of the congregation will be attending Sunday's Circle the City with Love rally.
The recent police shootings and tension are "a concern for all of us, for every American citizen," he continued. "We want the country to come together. Like (Abraham) Lincoln said, 'A house divided against itself cannot stand.'
"I think the police, the people, the communities should come together, and the mosque could play a role in bringing peace and harmony to the community," he added. "We wish to do whatever we can. Our doors are open. Our goal is to develop inter-racial and inter-religious harmony."
