Annual Regional Gathering of Ahmadiyya Muslims in Belize City this Weekend
Jalsa Salana, the yearly gathering of Muslims in Belize, is a reunion with the purpose of enabling every honest and open person to experience firsthand its religious benefits.  The convention is scheduled to commence on Friday afternoon with a full itinerary of events carrying over into Saturday.  On Sunday, the third annual convention will conclude with the inauguration of the Ahmadiyya Basketball League 2017 at the Gateway Youth Center.  Earlier today, a press conference was held to formally announce the upcoming assembly.

Lal Khan Malik, President, Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at, Canada, said:
“It is our annual conference, we call it Jalsa Salana, literally it is annual convention.  The purpose of Jalsa Salana is to bring together members of the community at least once a year to congregate and learn about their faith.  In that case it’s a refresher course, refreshing their religious knowledge and augmenting their spiritual training and in addition it also provides an opportunity for our friends from across the community to come and join us on this convention and find out what Islam stands for and what’s Islam’s role in developing a peaceful society and what Islam can [do to] help in the progress of Belize as a country.
So we look forward to a very interesting session here.  I look forward to your questions to probe the various aspects of this convention and the purpose of this press conference is that more and more Belizeans are coming to know about this convention and [that] they join us on Friday and on Saturday, the twenty-seventh and twenty-eighth of January in this venue.”

Imam Naveed Mangla, President, Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at, Belize, said:
“We will have an exhibition set up to have some historical aspects of the religion of Islam to learn about the holy scripture, and then there will be some slides and the Holy Prophet, the founder of Islam, Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him.  We will also have some books set up.  Any of the people that want to buy books and there will be some free literature given that they would want to take with them, they will be able to do that.  And most importantly, there will be Muslims coming from Canada, Guatemala, Mexico, Honduras.  They will all be here.  Some of them are here already and some of them will be arriving.”
