Marginalizing minorities is not only against American values, it is counter to all Abrahamic faiths.

Dear Editor,

As an American Muslim, I value the democratic transition of power and appreciate the fact that we live in a stable country that grants many freedoms.

While I respect and am loyal to this nation, I ask all of our elected leaders to follow the Islamic tenant of being just and fair in their leadership. Marginalizing minorities is not only against American values, it is counter to all Abrahamic faiths.

The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) provided a perfect example of pluralism as a leader. Speaking to the Christians under his rule, he stated: “I place them under my protection from any damage or harm. I am behind them, protecting them from every enemy or anyone who wishes them harm…In virtue of this pact, [Christians] have obtained inviolable rights to enjoy our protection, to be protected from any infringement of their rights, and they are not to be disputed, rejected or ignored…” (Covenant of the Prophet Muhammad with the Christians of the World)

Sincerely
