"Our members have enjoyed living in Feltham for decades and so any opportunity to help our local Community is much welcome."

Hundreds of Muslim youths hit the streets across the UK with litter-pickers and bin bags on 1st January 2017 as part of a nationwide AMYA initiative to help keep Britain tidy after the new-year festivities, and Hounslow was no exception. Despite the poor weather a substantial amount of litter was picked up left by fly-tippers and alike.

Volunteers from Middlesex began their clean-up at 8.30am at the entrance of Hanworth Park and around the Feltham Rugby Club car park. All members of the public were invited to join in and refreshments were provided.

They were joined by local Councillor Hanif Khan, who represents the area.

Cllr Hanif Khan said, ‘The Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association in Hounslow never ceases to amaze me, in their commitment and love for the community. They have supported many clean up days and this national initiative is another example of their sincerity. I was proud to be invited to join them this morning on New Years Day 2017’.

A passer by, was extremely happy to see so many young youth cleaning the entrance and pathway which he frequently uses twice a day.

Atta-ur-Rahman Khalid, Youth Leader for Middlesex said: "Our members have enjoyed living in Feltham for decades and so any opportunity to help our local Community is much welcome."

Atta Ur Rahman also said: "Cleaning the local park also presents us with an opportunity to become better Muslims as cleanliness is an integral part of our faith. We are peace loving British Muslims and will continue to do all we can to serve our local community as best we can and wherever there is a need.
