India: Shimoga Ahmadiyya Muslims Host Huge Bookstall at Kannada Sahitya Sammelana


The Shimoga Chapter of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at  hosted a huge and successful Book Stall on eve of 11th District Kannada Sahitya Sammelana (District Kannada Gathering) on the 4th and 5th of February, 2017.

“I am really moved by the way the youngsters of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community worked."

The Kannada Sahitya Sammelana (Kannada Literature Conference), the premier gathering of writers, poets and kannadigas, had organized their yearly conference on 4th and 5th February. The Conference had invited renowned politicians, poets, writers, journalists, district administrators, university administrators and staff, school and colleges administrators and students.

Shimoga being a homeland to many intellectuals and also known for its Kannada culture and traditions had called to setup stalls through newspapers. Majlis Khuddamul Ahmadiyya, the youth wing of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community started to work for the setup of Ahmadiyya bookstall.

The Ahmadiyya Bookstall was Inaugurated by the Na Di’souza, the President of the Kannada Sahitya Sammelana and a senior poet and writer. Mr Jagannath, member of Kannada Sahitya Parishad, Shimoga; Mr Anantu, a journalist and member of Kannada Sahitya sammelana Shimoga, Ahmadiyya district president M. Khaleel Ahmad, district vice president, Mir Azam Zakriya, president of Ahmadiyya Jama’at Shimoga, Syed B.M.Ahmad were also present .

Over 5.000 leaflets and pamphlets were distributed along with the books World Crisis &and Pathway to Peace and Life of Muhammad and over 300 visitors were engaged.

Prominent personalities who visited the Ahmadiyya Bookstall were Mr Prasanna Kumar, member of Legislative Assembly of Karnataka, Mr Sanna Rama, the head of the 11th Karnataka Sahitya Parishad Conference, Mr D.S. Arun, president of Shimoga District Chamber of Commerce and a social worker and Industrialist, Mr Natesh, poet, writer, senior professor at Women's College and orator in Kannada, Mr Somachar of District Intelligence Department, Mr Riyaz Basha, Neuro-Psychiatrist , poet and writer, Mr M.K. Bhatt, president Kannada Sahitya Parishad, Talluk Sorab, and Mr Srikantha Kodige, vice chancellor Kuvempu University and chairman of Library Committee.

“Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at’s work towards interfaith harmony inspires respect towards Ahmadiyya Muslim Communities ideology” said Mr Srikantha Kodige, vice chancellor, Kuvempu University.

“Books propagating peace and explaining the true teachings of Islam through bookstalls and giving books for free is really appreciable and I wish all the best for this attempt for propagating peace and true teachings of Islam” said Mr V. Shantha Rama, member Gram Panchayath, Hosanagar.

“I am really moved by the way the youngsters of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community worked right from setting up of Bookstall to the end, being your neighbour stall member I salute your way of working and team  spirit ” Said Mr Parashuram.

More than 100 eminent personalities have shared their appreciative comments.

More than 2000 people visited Ahmadiyya Bookstall and local newspaper posted photograph of inauguration of Bookstall and local news channel covered our stall in local T.V. news
