Nigeria: Ahmadiyya commences work on university project


The University Consultant, Prof. Ayo Omotayo of the Lagos State University said that MIU will be one of the best Universities in a short time.

The groundbreaking of Minaret International University, MIU, sponsored by Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat Nigeria has commençed in Ikirun, State of osun, South West Nigeria.

The epoch event was performed by the Amir (Head). Dr. Mashhud Fashola recently with some members of the Amila, traditional rulers, eminent personalities of Osun extraction in attendance.

Minaret International University,  when fully completed is poised to producing disciplined, righteous, skillful and creative graduates.

Both the agricultural and university Projects have received the gracious approval and blessings of  World Head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community , His Holiness, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad.

While addressing hundreds of  indigenes of Ikirun, the Amir said MIU would be a unique, standard and decent higher institution of learning that would devoid of cultism, indecency and immoral acts. He said the products of the institution need not look for jobs after graduation as they would be groomed into becoming self-reliant with professional science and technical know-how.

Dr. Fashola said that MIU Agricultural Enterprise  starts immediately in line with the directive of Hazrat Khalifatul Masih V, adding that it will provide additional source of income to facilitate the University project.

He further stated that admission into the University would be on merit only, irrespective of religions, languages and ethnic differences.  He said the objective of Ahmadiyya Community is to reform the world.  He however said constant prayers from all and sundry would help for a successful University project, adding that the Jama’at would welcome contributions of people to the  agricultural project through purchase of shares.

His Royal Majesty, Oba Olayiwola Olawale Adedeji II, the Akinrun of Ikirunland lauded the gesture to establish MIU at Ikirun and promised the moral supports of all Ikirun indigenes to the project.

Oba Olayiwola Olawale Adedeji II, who was full of happiness, said MIU tuition fee would be affordable even to the poor while the institution would provide jobs for Ikirun people and the graduates would be exceptional in all ramifications.  He said these were in line with the prior discussions he had with the leadership of the Jama’at.

The University Consultant, Prof. Ayo Omotayo of the Lagos State University said that MIU will be one of the best Universities in a short time.  He therefore requested for the full supports of the citizens and members.  He requested everyone contribute meaningfully to the project.

Congratulating the people of Ikirun for being the host community, Prof. Omotayo stated that University is a change agent in any society which usually provides employment opportunities for the indigenes.  He urged the indigenes to be more kind and accommodative to workers on the University site.
