Given the current climate where leaders are increasing the rhetoric against one another with threats of nuclear weapons and powerful missiles, I feel that we are edging ever so closer to the next world war.

To add more fuel to the chaotic situation, I see a rise in the momentum for the support of far-right nationalist parties, which is only building significant divide between communities and diversified cultures rather than uniting them on common grounds.

In this dire age of warfare and divide amongst the masses, leaders of world need to collaborate and focus on reconciliation. I echo the words of the Caliph of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, who warned in one of his addresses in Germany this month that: “Politicians and people of influence should endeavor to persuade their governments to focus on peace-building efforts rather than inflicting conflicts and taking us further towards the abyss.”
