Volunteers from Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Oldham started a Roundthorn community clean-up session at and around Roundthorn Road.
The session was organised by Roundthron Local Community Forum, with help of Oldham Council.
Volunteers from Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Oldham and members of the Roundthorn community took litter pickers and bin bags to clean up the community.
The initiative was agreed in a local community meeting held last month at the Salvation Army Church, Roundthorn Road, Oldham.
The litter-picking sessions are aimed at helping create awareness that litter on the streets is unacceptable and looks bad on the community, and takes up a lot of resources to remove it.
Laiq Khan, Youth leader for Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Oldham, said: “Cleanliness is an integral part of the Islamic faith, and as peace-loving British Muslims we will continue to do all we can to serve our local community in the best manner possible.
"We, as Proud British Muslims, tried to do our bit to make our areas look beautiful.
"As a youth we try to educate young people that each of us has a social responsibility to help our local communities."
