Sri Lanka: Ahmadiyya Elders Organize Prophet Day Event - 2018


In 1924, it was the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at that had begun such Prophet Day Meetings during the period of its Second Khalifa Hazrat Mirza Bashiruddin Mahmood Ahmad (r.a.) to make known to the world about the real status and teachings of Prophet of Islam

Majlis Ansarullah Sri Lanka organized Prophet Day – Seerathun Nabi on 1 July 2018 at Darul Aman – Pasyala. Parliamentarian Vijitha Herath was the Chief Guest. Two Buddhist Clergies in the nearby area and more than 30 non-Muslims attended. Sadr Majlis Ansarullah K.A. Shafiullah chaired the event which began with Holy Qur’an recitation followed silent prayer.

A.H. Nasir Ahmad – National President of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at Sri Lanka highlighted the migration – Hijra of Holy Prophet (PBUH) from Mecca to Medina after 13 long years of persecution. He said that this migration took place in systematical manner and Prophet of Islam was welcomed at Medina. He went on to explain how Prophet of Islam and his followers were persecuted in Mecca and added the manner in which he dealt with his enemies after the Mecca victory. Islam never spread through the sword and the defensive wars only fought for the self defense, he added.

Two Buddhist Clergies in their address said, Lord Buddha also experienced such persecutions as of Prophet of Islam and also had migrated. They welcomed such interfaith meetings and added this is the one, need of the time in which the country is passing through. Such efforts should be continued, they expressed.

Hon. Vijitha Herath M.P., in his address pointed out the tireless efforts being made by Ahmadiyya Khalifa for world peace and said, such efforts can be done by the Ahmadiyya Community in this country in their ability. Referring to Purdah (veil), he said, to reduce the hate from the majority Sinhalese on this issue, he suggested, instead of following Saudi and other Arab Countries, a minor change in the design of  Purdah – within the Shariah, will be well and good. Full of his address focused on religious harmony, it was well observed.

Holy Qur’an Sinhala Translation was presented to Vijitha Herath M.P.

It was informed at the event, that in 1924, it was the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at that had begun such Prophet Day Meetings during the period of its Second Khalifa Hazrat Mirza Bashiruddin Mahmood Ahmad (r.a.) to make known to the world about the real status and teachings of Prophet of Islam (PBUH).

Nizam Khan, Sadr    Colombo Jama’at addressed on the subject of Jihad and Islamic Wars. He also put forward some passages in Sinhala from the book: World Crisis and the Pathway To Peace.

M.Y.M. Thawfeek delivered vote of thanks and the event concluded with silent prayers.
