More than 65 members of the youth wing of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association joined in with volunteers from Reading, Oxford, Aldershot and Camberley.

Coordinator Ali Ahmed said the members regularly took part in conservation work and on Sunday provided the majority of volunteers at the Fobney Island Wetland Nature Reserve Project.

He said: “There were more than 1,300 little trees to plant and I think we managed to plant most of them. We put in a full day.”
