A Muslim youthleader from Horsham has spoken out against the atrocities in Syria and Iraq.
In the wake of the beheading of British aid worker David Haines, Horsham youth leader Adnan Durrani explained what he and other leaders are doing to prevent radicalisation of young Muslims in Horsham and the surrounding area.
Supporters of the Islamic State regime have murdered hundreds of innocent people in many Iraqi and Syrian towns. They also filmed the beheadings of two American journalists and Mr Haines and released the footage on the internet.
Mr Durrani of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Sussex said: “Positive actions of engaging our youths in charitable activities within the UK such as taking part in the poppy appeal collections, planting trees and the giving blood campaign have contributed towards our success of stopping radicalisation.
“Also the clear message of peace is taught in our Mosques where there is no room for ambiguity nor condoning terrorism in any form.”
He added: “We are trying to focus young people on the positive teachings of Islam.
“Islam teaches peace, love and care and respect for others. What they are doing in Iraq and Syria has nothing to do with Islam or God. If you kill one persons, you kill all humanity. Muhammad, peace be upon him, never taught these things.”
