Be confident in face of criticism: Minister Umar
Home Minister Umar Naseer on Tuesday night said that there was no need to hold back for fear of criticism from anyone.
Speaking at Ahmadiyya School Prize Giving Ceremony held at Hiriya School Hall, Minister Umar stressed the importance of not holding back in face of fear of criticism and being confident when communicating with people. He said that self confidence and valuing one’s self was as important to instill in students as was a good education.
“Be yourself. This is a virtue we should adopt to become a successful person, in political, as well as education field,” he said.
Minister Umar said that those who lacked self-confidence faced numerous difficulties with studies as well as in workplace and at home. Therefore have confidence in whatever you do, and don’t hold back in fear of criticism, said the Home Minister.
Umar Naseer noted that while education opportunities were open to all children, the opportunity was being taken away from some by their parents.
He noted that some parents refused to send their children to schools and said that they had not right to do so. He said it was not acceptable for people to take away every child’s right for an education, at a time when doors for educational opportunities have been flung wide open.
Minister Umar noted the progress made by Ahmadiyya School the past 10 years and appealed for students follow the advice of their teachers and parents, to defend those achievements and build up on them.
He commended the school on their achievements and called them exemplary.
Minister Umar handed out awards to students who won top awards for their performances in 2013; including the school’s best all-rounder, secondary level, Ahmed Hammad; and best all-rounder, higher secondary level, Aishath Inaya.
Awards were also handed out to Ahmadiyya students who were ranked top 10 in O’ Level and A’ Level Exams, 2013.
