The Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association (AMYA) will renew their pledge of allegiance, support and service to the city of Rochester Hills at 7 p.m. Monday, July 20 at the city council meeting.

The association first made this pledge at the July 21, 2014 city council meeting during public comment.

This year, they’ll renew the pledge and describe what they’ve done to fulfill it including Adopt-a-Highway clean-ups, hosting blood drives, funding this year’s Arbor Day ceremony and organizing educational programs at the local library.

“According to the Prophet Muhammad, ‘Love for one’s nation is a part of faith,” Adeel Ahmed, president of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association of Metro Detroit, said.

“If we fail to show love, compassion and service to our community, what sort of human beings would we be? AMYA Metro Detroit will continue to sacrifice our lives, wealth, time and honor for the sake of our faith, country and nation.”

The AMYA was established in 1939, is comprised of more than 3,000 men and boys aged 7 to 40 spread across 70 chapters around the world. AMYA USA has a long standing reputation of engaging political and community leaders to better assist the communities they reside in.
