An interfaith gathering is to take place in Sheffield to mark International Peace Day.

The event will take place at the Baitul Afiyat Mosque on Sussex Street on Monday, starting at 7pm.

Mubarik Tahir, president of the Sheffield chapter of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association, said he hoped the event would be a success.

He said: “The world is in the danger of plunging into chaos due to an imminent clash of cultures, and people need to accept one another in order to avoid conflicts.”

Representatives of different faiths will read out shared prayers and scriptures on peace at the event.

The event is open to the public through invitation.

Refreshments and dinner will be provided on the night by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community. Invitations can be requested by emailing ama.sheffield@gmail.com or alternatively by texting 07898 107878.
