Today marks the 14th anniversary of 9/11.
Over the years, I have looked to this day not just as one to be remembered for lives lost, but also a day where lives can be preserved. How so? I plan to donate blood, like I have every year, to the Muslims for Life campaign sponsored by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community.
In the past four years, the campaign has collected nearly 40,000 bags of blood, which holds the potential for saving nearly 120,000 lives.
We have partnered with both secular and spiritual organizations from across America. State and federal politicians have also taken part.
The message is simple: as Muslims, we don’t shed blood, we give blood. And we thereby join hands with all Americans in fighting extremism in all of its ugly forms.
