Dear editor,

An online petition on the white house website initiated by two influential members on the Congressional Committee of Terrorism on September 21 has called for the Obama administration to officially designate Pakistan as a state sponsor of terrorism.

As a person of Pakistani descent, I advocate for this change in label because for years the Pakistani government has ripped off the American government by fronting as an ally in the war on terror, while acting the exact opposite way in the background.

From harboring and funding terrorist groups to upholding a constitution which allows for draconian blasphemy laws that marginalize minority religious communities, the nation of Pakistan and its corrupt policies have had adverse effects upon the region.
