Local residents in the Kincardine area may receive a visit from Canadian youth Muslim missionaries later this week.
Members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Canada, out of Maple, Ont. will be canvassing the area this Friday, March 18, as well as many neighbouring communities like Goderich and Walkerton, to explain "the true image of Islam."
Ahmadiyya spokesperson Rizwan Peerzada said the youth organization's "Peace Campaign" will focus on door-to-door meetings with residents to explain what Islam is, how they work to condemn terrorism and spread a message of peace.
Peerzada contacted The Kincardine News with an invitation last week and will be meeting with media and Municipality of Kincardine mayor Larry Kraemer for an hour on Friday afternoon at the Municipal Administration Centre.
"My understanding is they're trying to counter the images portrayed in the media and are working against terrorism," said Kraemer.
