Sixteen cricket teams from across the globe will take part in a Twenty20 tournament from Friday, May 20 to Sunday, May 22.

The third Ahmadiyya Muslim Association International Masroor event will feature teams from Canada, Australia, Holland, Germany, Belgium, Ireland, Pakistan, Switzerland, USA and the UK.

Three former first-class Pakistani cricketers took part last year.

Tournament chairman Mirza Abdul Rashid said: “It is said that cricket is a religion in some countries so isn’t it great that a faith-based community is hosting this event.

“While the aim is to play first-class cricket which can be enjoyed by players and spectators alike, we also hope to bring communities together and show how sport can help break down barriers.”

The teams will be divided into four groups of four with the top two from each group playing in the quarter finals.


The games will be played over four venues, including Abbey Recreation Ground Morden SW19 3BP, Nursery Road Playing Fields Morden SW19 3BT, Raynes Park Sports Ground (SW20 0BH) and King George’s Playing Fields (SM4 4PN).

Last year’s winner Germany will be hoping to retain its title despite strong challenges from other countries and especially the UK.
