Indonesia must be freed from liberals, demands extremists group FPI

Chief of Jakarta FPI Habib Salim Alatas said that about 3,000 FPI members protested in all Jakarta areas to protest liberalism which is ruining Islam and Indonesia's nation ideology.

Thousands of protesters held demonstration in HI Roundabout today (3/9) at around 1 PM.

They were Islam Defenders Front (FPI), Islamic Peoples Forum (FUI), Islam Reform Movement (Garis) and Ukhuwah Islamiyah Forum who protested that Indonesian nation should be free from liberals.

The protesters were wearing white clothes while shouting slogans “Anti-Liberal Islam Network (JIL)” and carrying banners which read “Peace in Indonesia without JIL” and “Liberalism Ruins Morality”.

Chief of Jakarta FPI Habib Salim Alatas said that about 3,000 FPI members protested in all Jakarta areas to protest liberalism which is ruining Islam and Indonesia's national ideology.

“The government should resolve to disband JIL and Ahmadiyah,” asserted Habib.

Based on beritajakarta.com observation, the demonstration began around 1 PM starting from HI Roundabout towards Monas.

The traffic flow around State Palace up to HI Roundabout was hampered, yet a number of the police officers tried to parse traffic jam.
