QADIAN: Indian origin Dr.Rafiq Ahmad Nasir who is a resident of Rome (Italy) was attacked by a Romanian in a racisms attack. Dr. Rafiq Ahmad Nasir told the reporters that he is originally from Qadian, District Gurdaspur (Punjab) residing in Rome Italy since last 12 years .
He said that he is working as an English teacher in the state Higher Secondary schools of Rome province. In a press note he said few days before around 17.30 pm while he was returning to home from his job by underground metro train was attacked in central Rome’s “Termini” station when he was sat on a vacant seat.
Rafiq said that after few second a young boy whose age was around 20 years joined the next seat in front of him. Then he started to abuse and shout upon him . Then Dr. Nasir asked him in Italian language asked him, “ what’s the matter?” and looked towards him. He replied and said that he will hit his nose by his head, and he was continually shouting. A lady passenger tried to calm him down, but he continued.
Realizing the situation, the victim thought to change his seat. Once Dr. Nasir stood up, he did the same and he hit his face by his head to the victim. Dr. Nasir fell down on the ground but the assailant continued to hit him by his hand and foot. Other passengers intervened , in next station he left that Wagon, and tried to escape.
Dr. Rafique said that he collected his strength and chased him to hold him . the assailant was handed over to security personal of the metro station. Rafique said that he was admitted in the hospital for his recovery of nose broken, jaw, throat, chin, shoulder wounding. Dr.Rafique thanked the Embassy of India’s Personal assistance, the DCM Mr Kumar, F.Sc Mr V.Negi and other Hindu, Sikh, Muslim, Christian Indian national and hundred of non- Indian Italian citizen in general, his Italian Students, staff and co-professors who visited him and extended their help, solidarity, good wishes and legal help.
On this incident G.Alemano, Mayor of Rome, Zingareti, President of Province of Rome and R.Polverini condemn the attack and extended their solidarity.
