(Ka) It was great day for the 120 members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim community of Giessen.
The symbolic groundbreaking ceremony for the "Bait-ul-Samad" Mosque was attended by the Khalīfa of Islām, His Holiness Mirza Masroor Ahmad, the worldwide spiritual leader of the Ahmadiyya Muslim community, it was reported in the media
His Holiness Ahmad was welcomed by women and children's choir singing welcome songs in Urdu language.
Mayor of Gießen, Gerda Weigel-Greilich took part in the event and joined His Holiness in laying of the ceremonial bricks.
The building permits have been drawn, it was reported, but the official start of construction has not yet been determined.

Mayor Weigel-Greilich also praised the openness of the community; the annual invitation to an "open house day" and also the Inter-religious city tour a week ago gave an insight into their faith.
Hadhrat Ahmad laid the first stone for this future mosque and 15 other stones followed. Weigel Greilich was 5th in line and the second woman to lay the foundation stone - after the wife of His Holiness.
His Holiness Ahmad is the great-grandson of the founder of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Hadhrat Mirzā Ghulām Ahmad of Qādiān, India, who over a hundred years ago laid foundation of a peaceful mission.
The stated objective of the movement is to restore the original teaching of Islam.
