The 89th Jalsa Salana and Centenary Celebration will be held at the National Headquarters Complex of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Dhaka, the community has announced.

The scheduled programs and presentations of the convention will remain the same after the change of venue.

The conventional was originally planned for Gazipur.

On Wednesday bigots attacked the national training center of the Bangladesh Scouts at Mouchak of Gazipur and set fire to the canopy erected there for Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat’s centenary convention scheduled to begin Friday.

According to New Age news website, a group of clerics instigated the locals against the Ahmadis and they marched towards the venue of their upcoming convention.

Further according to the reports, a mob of several thousand protesters blocked the highway and held a rally where Mullah Safir Uddin, Mufti Masudul Karim, Nehaj Uddin, Sharifur Rahman, Mullah Fazlur Rahman, Nasir Uddin, Siraj Uddin, Mufti Sirajul Islam, Nasir Uddin Khan and Abdullah Al Mamun instigated the mob against Ahmadis and demanded the government to declare the Ahmadis non-Muslims.

After the rally, according to New Age, the mob rushed inside the scouts training center and set fire to the facilities setup  for the convention.

On information, police forces from Kaliakoir police station, Gazipur police station, Mauchak police outpost and armed police battalion rushed to the spot and tried to persuade the mob but failed, New Age wrote.

The bigots left the place in the evening claiming that they would not allow any ‘Qadiani’ convention at the venue in no way.

Ahmad Tabshir Choudhury, who is official spokesperson for the community in Bangladesh, said that the situation is under control.

There are "no risk at our own premises ... [and] moreover, security has been further tightened," Choudhury further stated. "We had a meeting with the top level of the government after the incident."
