The acting Ameer and Missionary-in-charge of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission Ghana, Alhaji Maulvi Mohammed Bin Salih, has called on Muslim women leaders to help in fighting moral decadence in the country.
He particularly entreated religious bodies in the country, particularly the Ahmadiyya Muslim Women’s Association (Lajna Imailah), to rise up to help fight all forms of negative practices against good societal norms and values for posterity.
The acting Ameer, who made the call at the opening of the 34th annual National Convention of the Lajna Imailah in Kumasi, also lamented the fact that successive governments and the state seemed to be interested in fighting only the drug trade, neglecting the issue of alcoholism, although it was the main driving force for youth immorality and delinquency.
The theme for the three-day convention: “Striving to attain the fear of Allah, an unending pre-occupation of the Muslim woman” attracted over 2,000 Ahmadi Muslim women and young girls (Nasirat).
Alhaji Bin Salih blamed the moral decadence in the Ghanaian society on materialism and neglect of religious principles, saying that to achieve wealth and material things, some women had willingly accepted to be objects of pleasure for men, with others taking to indecent exposure.

The Ashanti Regional Director of Women, Ms Augustina Gyamfi, asked women to put the fear of God in their children to enable them to grow to become hardworking, honest and responsible adults in future.
She said the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection was offering scholarships to deprived children to pursue technical and vocational courses to help better their future.
The National President of the Lajna Imailah, Madam Hafsa Obosu, asked Ahmadi Muslim women to be examples both at home and in the larger society by staying away from negative practices such as gossiping, backbiting, insults and disrespect for their husbands, which were displeasing to Allah.
