Miley Cyrus and Malala Yousafzai: a world apart

Two extraordinary young women are the center of discussion in this essay. The first M, is Miley Cyrus and the second M, is Malala Yousafzai.

Miley, is in the news today for all the wrong reasons: nudity, obscenity and the bohemianism she is promoting. Malala, is also in the news but for all the good reasons: her fight against the regressive and perverted mind set of not only the Taliban but of the entire society she lives in, still optimistically striving, engaged in the real jihad against inequality and injustice meted to her kind.

Miley, born in the USA, a country blessed with everything, from whichever angle you look at. Malala, born in Pakistan, where the majority of the population lives below the poverty line; a place where it is not a necessity, but instead a luxury, that only a few lucky or rich enough can afford to send their children, especially girls to school. ...

Miley, with all her antics on and off the stage, as she lives in the country which affords its citizens the inalienable fundamental rights of freedom of thought, expression and association, can lead her life the way she wants. Malala , on the other hand being a girl, is a second-rate citizen of a culture that equates freedom of thought and of expression with blasphemy, therefore, she has to think a hundred times before she utters a word or takes a step in any direction, because of what her saying or action may be construed as. In short, Malala lives among, perverted, mentally and morally bankrupt humans. [more...]
