A Saudi school girl aged around 10 years was forced by her father to marry and the case was disclosed by the school headmistress who noticed the girl had fallen ill.
The head of the school in the southern province of Jazan said she had sent a letter to the police telling them about the forced marriage of the girl.
“The school head said in her letter that the girl was not well and that she told her she had been forced by her father to marry,” Sabq daily said.
It quoted police spokesman Colonel Awad Al Qahtani as saying the girl’s father told them that the girl is little older than 10 years as she started to go to school late. The paper gave no other details.
