On Sunday 25th of May 2014 Ahmadiyya Muslim Association Victoria hosted ‘Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea’ at Ahmadiyya Centre ‘Bait-ul-Salam’ (House of Peace) in Langwarrin. More than 280 members attended the event from all over Victoria and raised AUD850 for the Cancer Council Australia.
Members of the ‘Lajna Immaillah’ or the Women Auxiliary of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association Victoria made special efforts to prepare home-made ‘Chana Chaat’ (Chick pea salad), ‘Dahi Baray’, nuggets & chips, ‘Gulab Jaman’ and cakes to be presented on the Menu. Stalls on both sides (men & women) were beautifully decorated with balloons, buntings and messages from Cancer Council and Australia’s Biggest Morning organizers.
Mr Javed Choudhary President AMA Victoria said, “Australia's Biggest Morning tea is a great Fundraising initiative by the Cancer council Australia. These funds raised today by hosting this small and humble effort of our community will help Cancer Council continue its vital work in cancer research, prevention and support services.”
He further said, “Such events not only raise funds but also awareness about the importance of early detection and treatment of this disease, which is one of the biggest killers in Australia.”
The Women Auxiliary ‘Lajna Immaillah’ of AMA Victoria has been organizing Morning tea fundraiser since 2009. Over the years, the Auxiliary has managed to raise hundreds of dollars for the Cancer Council.
The event was a great success and was much appreciated by all attendees.
A cheque of AUD850 will be presented to Cancer Council Australia by the President of AMA Victoria.
