India: Successful blood drive marks 125th Year celebration of the worldwide Ahmadiyya Muslim Community


The preparations were started well in advance a day before at the venue Government Middle School premises. The drive was meticulously coordinated with all the AMYA chapters and organized well.

The Worldwide Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Shimoga, in association with Rotary Blood Bank Shimoga hosted a successful “Blood Donation Drive” at the Government Middle School premises, Shimoga, marking the 125th Year celebration of The Worldwide Ahmadiyya Muslim Community and for World Peace.

The blood drive started at 10:00 am on Monday, May 26, 2014.

Among the guests who attended the opening ceremony of the event were doctors of the Rotary Blood Bank and some political leaders and the chief guest for the program was Dr. Sanjay K.N, Chief Medical Officer, Rotary Blood Bank, Shimoga. Others who attended the drive were Dr Dhananjay Sirji (Director, Sirji Hospital, Shimoga ), Mr S.S Jyothi Prakash (political leader), Mr H Vishwanath (political leader), Mr Shekharappa Principal Government Women’s College, Shimoga and the President of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Shimoga and its members.

The event was organised by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association (AMYA), Majlis Khuddam-Ul-Ahmadiyya. The preparations were started well in advance a day before at the venue Government Middle School premises. The drive was meticulously coordinated with all the AMYA chapters and organized well.

Principal Mr Shekharappa appreciated the Ahmadiyya Community for the initiative and wished that such drives should take place more in the future, which could eliminate blood shortages in the region.

Mr S S Jyothi Prakash also spoke on the occasion and said by this type of events we can spread love and care to humanity and praised our motto “Love for all, Hatred for none”.

Dr Dhananjay who is the director of Sirji Hospital shimoga, had supported earlier for our first donation drive (an year ago), donated his blood and said there is a huge scarcity of blood in town and since there are many hospitals, the requirement of blood is quite high and such drives could go a long way in fulfilling the shortage of Blood.

In Total 45 units of Blood were donated by the Community which included non-Muslim doners as well. All mmembers of the Jamaat fully cooperated in the camp including those who didn't meet the health requirements to donate blood.

All the guests for the event appreciated the vision and works of the Ahmdiyya Muslim community.

The event was covered by Local and Regional T.V.  News Channels.
