Elaborating on the importance of the symposium, Rafeeque Beig Sahib, president of Majlis Khuddamul Ahmadiyya, said in this globalised world peace and brotherhood should be important tenets among all faiths.
He rued that the message of Islam as propagated by Prophet Mohammad had been forgotten and instead violence had broken out.
“A true Muslim is one who harms no one,” he told the gathering at Town Hall. He believed that while all religions should respect the sanctity of places of worship of other religions, the government should also come out with policies that look at non-violent resolution of conflicts.
Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at is an Islamic reformist movement started in 1889. The meeting saw the participation of Swami Jitakamananda, Adhyaksha of Mangalore Ramakrishna Math, Clifforf Fernandes, Spiritual Director at St. Joseph’s Seminary and Kamal Jit Singh, president of Sri Guru Singh Sabha.
