The Ahmadiyya community in Pakistan has always been there whenever the country needed it and in last few days they have been busy in rescue and relief operation during the floods in Pakistan especially in Punjab.
The members of the Ahmadiyya community are striving to serve the flood-affected people of areas around river Chenab that has flooded vast areas around Rabwah. The spokesperson of Ahmadiyya Jamaat in Pakistan Saleemuddin, said they "haven’t seen so much flood in last two decades in river Chenab and it has severely affected the suburban parts of Rabwah."
"Our priority in this situation was to save human lives as quickly as possible and we had been doing it right the day flood affected the areas," he said.
According to Mr. Saleemuddin, the volunteers have rescued 1190 people using their own resources in the shape of boats and tractor trollies.
"200 people who were marooned by flood water were rescued and provided meals three-times a day at their places and relief camps have been set up at three places for flood affected people outside Rabwah," Mr Saleemuddin further stated. "So far 32351 people have been provided food in these camps and free medical facilities have also been provided in these camps.
"2372 people have received medical attention for various problems and these facilities are still open for public.”
Mr. Saleemuddin says it is the Ahmadi tradition to come forward and help humanity with devotion and care at time of calamity whether it is flood, earthquake, epidemics or famine.
"Every Ahmadi is always ready to offer his services,” he added.
There are no exact figures of losses but once the flood water recedes losses will be estimated and we will try our best to assist the government in its efforts rehabilitate these affected people.
