In following the command of the Holy Founder of Islām, the Prophet Muhammad (Peace and Blessing of Allah be upon him), “Love of one’s country of residence is part of faith,” the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community (AMC) all across the United States celebrated America’s birthday on 4th of July with full patriotism.

In Philadelphia, which is the birthplace of the United States, the day was celebrated with no less patriotism.  The community distributed invitations to neighbors to come and join in celebrating this day.

The flags and banners went on and around the mosque during the day and the celebrations started after the Iftar (breaking the Fast) in this month of Ramadan.

In his comments to the congregants after the first evening prayers, Mujeeb Chaudhry, president of the AMC's Philadelphia chapter, emphasized on the loyalty to the country of residence.

Chaudhry said Islam teaches that goodness should be rewarded with goodness.  Explaining it further, he emphasized that while living in a country which grants everyone all the basic rights like free speech, pursuit of happiness and freedom of religion, one should be grateful to such a country.  To draw a contrast, Chaudhry highlighted the example of Pakistan where they have taken these freedoms away from minority groups by manipulating their constitution.

Chaudhry asserted, the Holy Prophet of Islam has set this as a standard that “love of one’s country  is part of the faith."

"Every Muslim living in America not only has the moral obligation but also the religious obligation to love this country," He said.

Chaudhry added that we as Ahmadi Muslims must participate and assimilate ourselves in the good traditions of this wonderful land like Memorial day, Labor day, Thanksgivings and Independence days. But, Christmas and similar religious holidays are not part of our lives as Muslims.

"However," he said, "we should offer our best wishes to fellow countrymen on their religious events."

The meeting was closed by silent prayer to God Almighty for keep this country and its citizens in His protection.

Afterwards, young Ahmadi boys sang the National Anthem of the United States as the fireworks began.  Members enjoyed the fireworks and raised slogans praising Allah Ta’ala and also raising slogan of Long Live the USA.

The celebrations concluded at the end of the fireworks and the dinner was served.

God Bless America.
