Nigeria: Ahmadiyya to mark centenary anniversary in 2016


According to  the  Head media publicity sub committee of the Centenary Ahmadiyya Celebration Committee, Qasim Akinreti, the celebration will run from the beginning  to the end of the year with a thanksgiving centenary conference – Jalsa  Salana.

AHMADIYYA  Muslim Jamaat Nigeria  is set for 100 years  celebration of its existence across the country as from Early next year 2016. The Islamic organization in nigeria  was formally  inaugurated in 1916 with  the 21 members whose membership were confirmed from Qadian and this effectively led to the arrival of the first foreign missionaries Late  Maulana Nayyar. The organization started at No 62 Bamgbose street ,Lagos Island, Lagos.

Early  members comprises of Muslim elites in Lagos from the Muslim Literary Society ,the  Muslim Juvenile Society and the Al- Quran Group , led by Late Alhaji Muhammad  Basil , Jubril Martin, Lawal Agusto, Alfa Idowu Yakub of Isale Igangan,Imam Kasumu  Rufai Ajose,Badamosi Fanimokun, Alfa I.L. Durosimi  Etti,Tijani Adele,Oba Musediku  Buraimoh Adele 11, Yinusa Hameed,Imam Yusau Popoola Oyesile Shodeinde, Alfa Muhammad Jimoh Abdul Salam(Selem),Tijani Ariyo,L.A Bada,Abdur Rasheed  A. Smith,Alhaji Abass Elegbaa ,Alfa Ismaila  Ayinde Shitta – Bey , Teacher Yunus,Junaid Yusuf,Imam Imoru of Mushin (Kanuri)Imran Adewusi Onibudo, Buyiaminu Gbajabiamila,and Alfa Saka Lawole,Alfa Muhammadu Shittu  Ade John,Alfa Abdus Salami Ebun Agbabiaka- A Police Officer,Alfa Muhammad Raji Ipaye,  Alfa Abdul Rahaman Ashafa Balogun  of Idi -Omo  Isale Eko, Unfortunately, many of them left the Jamaat during the crisis period ,while some remained till death.

Other early members were Alhaji Saka Tinubu,Imam  M.B Dabiri,Baidu Balogun,Alfa Bisiriyu Kisu,Alfa  Hamzat Adio  Subair,Alfa Sulaiman Wilson Shonibare, and Alfa Ashafa Tijani of Martins Street, Lagos.

In appreciation of their unique roles,  these pacesetters and frontliners are to be honored with pomp and pageantry during the celebration. Already their names dotted the front page of the 2016 calendar of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat , Nigeria.

According to  the  Head media publicity sub committee of the Centenary Ahmadiyya Celebration Committee, Qasim Akinreti, the celebration will run from the beginning  to the end of the year with a thanksgiving centenary conference – Jalsa  Salana.

During the Celebration  ahmadiyya  muslim jamaat in nigeria will showcase its peaceful propagation of Islam, unique  blazing trail  in  Islamic education,health, social amenities, newspaper , community initiatives, building of mosques ,training of Islamic missionaries ,Islamic publications among others.

Already a social media platforms have been created for the celebrations on www.ahmadiyya.net .The social media networks of Facebook,Twitter, YouTube, blogs, whathap,google plus, are already up and running to draw traffic on achievements and challenges of the Islamic organization in last  100 years.

The youth group of the Ahmadiyya muslim jamaat- Majlis khudammul will host an All African Games, AYAAG, in two cities early next year for the celebration  along with other programmes. Similarly the elders group- Majils Ansarullah has also come up with an essay competition. A compendium on the authentic history of the Ahmadiyya muslim jamaat in nigeria will be presented to the Nigerian public too.

Billboards on 100 years celebration will dot Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat institutions across Nigeria as from early next year.
