The Ahmadiyya Muslim Association Australia is welcoming the community to join them to celebrate Australia Day at the Baitul Huda Mosque in Marsden Park.

Celebrations will begin at the mosque at 10am, and will include a flag-raising ceremony, the singing of the national anthem and a complimentary barbecue.

Ahmadiyya Muslim Association Australia national spokesman Aziz Omer said the celebrations were open to everyone.

"It's not just for Muslims — we would love other members of the public to come and enjoy it with us," he said.

"We have sent more than 600 invites to non-Muslim people: churches, synagogues, Indian temples and to all MPs in Australia."

Among those expected to attend are Berowra federal MP Phillip Ruddock and Greenway federal MP Michelle Rowland along with Blacktown mayor Stephen Bali.

In the lead-up to Australia Day, the association started a nation-wide campaign to show its loyalty to Australia.

Its members have been busy delivering 500,000 "Loyalty to Homeland" leaflets all over Australia.

Mr Omer said organisers had received a great response so far and it was something they would continue in years to come.

"People are asking questions about why we're doing this and it's because we felt the need to educate people about our beliefs," he said.

"The prophet Muhammad tells us to be loyal to our homeland; to love your country. It's compulsory to love the country you live in, which for me is Australia.

"We are loyal to Australia and we want our kids to be loyal to Australia. I think it is a very good initiative and I would like to see other Muslims start doing this as well."

Mr Omer said Australia Day should be a big part of Australian society, even for migrants.

Originally from Pakistan, Mr Omer said his community want to teach its members to be proud Australians.

"We don't want to have a national identity crisis.

"We want to teach them they can be proud Muslims and proud Australians, that's why we're very passionate about Australia Day."
