Canada: Ahmadiyya community to build its first ever mosque in Brampton


A large number of community members, politicians and dignitaries attended the ceremony, which was chaired by the Jama’at national president Lal Khan Malik.

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama'at held their official groundbreaking Saturday evening for a new Brampton Mosque. Ceremonies were at the site on Hurontario south of Sandalwood Pkwy.

The Ahmadiyya community of the Greater Toronto Area is set to build its first ever mosque in Brampton.

On Saturday (July 16), the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at Canada held a groundbreaking ceremony of Brampton Mosque – their first place of worship in the Flower City and second in Peel region.

Mississauga’s Baitul Hamd Mosque (1220 Matheson Blvd E.) is the only place of worship for Ahmadiyya community.

A large number of community members, politicians and dignitaries attended the ceremony, which was chaired by the Jama’at national president Lal Khan Malik.

Located at 10545 Hurontario St. at the southeast corner of Sandalwood Pkwy and Hurontario St., the 22,000 square feet grand architectural structure – with over 5,400 square feet of prayers area, and a lofty minaret and a dome – will be completed by in December 2017.

After acquiring the land for $500,000 in 2004, Ahmadiyya Jama’at has gone through various stages before beginning the construction process.

Members of Ahmadiyya Jama’at will bear the $9 million construction cost of the Brampton Mosque.
