I am proud that America and its Constitution provide me with freedom of religion, freedom of speech and freedom of expression. They are values we all cherish as human beings.

Nov. 8 was a special day for me. It was the day I voted for the very first time in my life in any general election.
Having been denied this right as an Ahmadi Muslim in Pakistan, I felt excited having exercised my right to vote as a citizen of this great country.
I am proud that America and its Constitution provide me with freedom of religion, freedom of speech and freedom of expression. They are values we all cherish as human beings.
My Islamic faith also supports these values, and it is a joy finally to be in a country that upholds these values.
The phrase “Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness” as part of the Declaration of Independence assures three inalienable rights for all.
Every day and every year, I am thankful for my home in the United States and for all the freedom it provides me. And as the current election season comes to close, I am hoping these freedoms will stay with us as a hallmark of this great nation forever.
