"[T]he executive order was unjustified."

Mubashir Mumtaz, spokesperson and secretary for public affairs for the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Central Pennsylvania Chapter, will join representatives from 70 chapters to meet with congressional leaders this weekend in Washington, D.C.

Mumtaz said he hopes to meet with U.S. Senators Bob Casey and Pat Toomey to discuss issues relating to religious freedom, civil rights and national security.

"I have requested meeting with both offices," he said in an email. "I have left multiple phone messages and sent two emails to Senator Toomey's office but have not heard back."

Mumtaz will travel with his wife and four children "to say that we are loyal Americans and support the president in keeping all of us secure."

However, he added, "the executive order was unjustified. The world is becoming a global village and become increasingly inter-dependent - and so we have to co-operate with one another and respect each other's beliefs."

Last year, Matthew Jansen, a delegate to the Republican National Convention criticized the Hadee Mosque for posting a message that wished fellow Muslims a “blessed Ramadan.” Jansen later apologized for his remarks and attended a dinner at the mosque.

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is the only Islamic organization to believe the Messiah came in the person of Mires Ghulam Ahead (1835-1908), of India. He claimed to be the metaphorical second coming of Jesus of Nazareth, whose advent was foretold by Mohammed. That belief separates the sect from other Muslims in the world.

Ahmadiyya Muslims have held their national U.S. conference at the Pennsylvania Farm Show complex for each of the past eight years.
