  • An Ahmadi, Doctor Ashfaq Ahmad becomes a victim of target killing in Lahore.
  • We strongly condemn the killing of the second Ahmadi within 10 days: Spokesman of Jamat e Ahmadiyya Pakistan.

Chenab Nagar (Rabwah) (PR): An Ahmadi, Dr. Ashfaq Ahmad from Sabzazar, Lahore has been gunned down near Scheme Mor, Lahore today, the 7th of April, 2017, while he was going to offer Juma prayer along with his grandson and a friend. He was traveling in a car and as the car slowed down on Scheme Mor, Multan Road, Lahore, a motorcyclist, wearing a helmet, approached and shot at his temple from point blank range which killed him on site. Other persons in the car remained unharmed though.

Dr. Ashfaq Ahmad was 68 years old and was an active member of the community. He was a PhD doctor in food and nutrition and was retired from the University of Veterinary Sciences.

Saleemuddin, the spokesman of Jamat e Ahmadiyya Pakistan condemned the barbaric murder of Dr, Ashfaq and said that it is the second Ahmadi who has been murdered for his faith within the last 10 days. A few days ago another prominent Ahmadi lawyer in Nankana Sahib was killed and today another renowned Ahmadi has been murdered. He also said that a well organized hate campaign is being carried out throughout the country and innocent Ahmadis are falling prey to it.

On one side the government is saying that the Operation Raddul Fasaad is against all sorts of extremists and nobody is being discriminated on the basis of religion, whereas the reality is that Ahmadis are being targeted in broad daylight. Taking no action against such hate mongers has encouraged such elements and they are attacking Ahmadis. In order to stop the bloodshed of precious human lives, it is crucial to take strict legal actions against the hate campaign and prejudice.

End.
