Earlier at last Tuesday's Bernards Township committee meeting, two members of a Muslim group unaffiliated with the Islamic Society of Basking Ridge spoke to committee members about their group's mission.

Tariq Sharif of Mendham, director of public affairs for the Central Jersey Chapter of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, said the group offers a voice of peace, condemns terrorist attacks and serves communities with educational outreach.

He praised Mayor Bianchi and Police Chief Brian Bobowicz for attending the group's events.
